February's Birthstone
The mainstream, commercial jewelry market hasn't provided the greatest context in modern years for this astounding, abundantly found quartz specimen. With gem quality shades ranging from pinkish lilac to deep purple-red, it's easy to understand why it was historically preferred by the royal and wealthy until large scale deposits were found in South America throughout the 1800s. But as we jewelry lovers know, abundant does not mean lackluster.
